A hidden gem in the French Alps, Montchavin La Plagne is a perfect Savoyard village opposite Mont Blanc, right in the midst of the world-famous Paradiski with fantastic access to and from nearby airports and train station.
Located on the edge of Vanoise National Park, Montchavin is a bustling, charming village with cobbled streets and traditional stone and slate houses. The village has restaurants, bars, a small supermarket and a selection of shops. The Espace Paradisio indoor-outdoor swimming pool complex is a great addition to the village’s facilities.
The village is ideally placed to afford easy and quick access to one of the world’s largest ski areas with over 425 kilometres of pistes – 70% of it above 2,000 metres elevation. It is north facing too, making it a snowsure ski area until the end of April.
Montchavin is an integral part of the huge La Plagne ski area, to which it contributes one of the finest stretches of skiing. It is now at the hub of one of the world’s largest ski areas, accommodating a station on the Vanoise Express and the cable car that connects the three resorts – Les Arcs, La Plagne and Peisey-Vallandry – that form Paradiski in Savoie.
The alpine village was awarded the Famille Plus label a number of years ago. This is the guarantee of a great family holiday with activities, entertainment, ski passes and kids’ clubs.
But Monchavin La Plagne has more to offer than just winter adventures. The popularity of the resort as a year-round destination continues to rise. Many of the lifts are open during the summer and the village looks lovely with all the balconies covered in flowers. Summer activities include mountain biking, hiking, canoeing and much more.
